I know, it's been a while again since my last post. Been real busy both work and personal wise. The good news is, iNotes/DWA launches tomorrow to some of our plants. Everything is in place, the security policy for password sync appears to be working correctly, and now we are ready to launch. Starting out with some of our Canadian plants first, then, moving it to the American plants. Very exciting. But, to get to this point, I ran into some major road bumps.
I have been getting a lot of complaints about client lock ups when trying to access the Domino server. I have a pretty beefy server with 960 mail files on it. So, it gets hit pretty good during the day. But, there were many times when I see the server availability index drop to 0, and stay there for a while. So, after doing some major searching on the web, I found that there is a problem with Domino 6.5.3 that would cause the server to not accept any connections. There is a FP1 available, but, I have always waited for the next release, (6.5.4), instead of just a patch. But, that still left me with a problem, people still can't connect. So, I called the fine folks at Lotus support. It wasn't just 6.5.3 causing the problem, it was also my cluster acting up. So, working through the problem with them, and also finding the article about setting the number of cluster replicas running, I now have an AI of around 85, and it hasn't dipped below that.
So, now it leaves me to more important things, like the file retention policy, and the Notes 6.5.X client rollout.
I think I need to sit on a beach somewhere for a while.
