Insufficient Memory.....what a pain

We've been having a heck of a time down here at the ranch with an error that keeps popping up on our 8.5.1 Domino servers.  Multiple PMR's and "try this" and "try that" from the Lotus Support team along with the HF additions to the fix packs installed were tried with no luck.  The issue has centered itself around mail files becoming corrupt.  I mean *really* corrupt.  Nothing that myself or Candice, (my partner in all things Domino Admin here), could think of would fix the issue!  Once corruption occurs, nothing short of deleting the file and recovering from tape would fix it. When we would try the normal Domino voodoo, but these types errors would appear on the screen:

09/23/2010 09:08:57 AM  Document NT000EFB16 in database C:\Lotus\Domino\Data\user.nsf is damaged: Insufficient memory.

We did find that in 8.5.2 the issue was resolved.  Copying the corrupt file to our test 8.5.2 server and running fixup would deleted the damaged documents and restore the database to workable.  But nothing for 8.5.1 was getting it fixed.  That was until the person we were working with us at Lotus support went on vacation and the person filling in noticed that he had seen this issue before.  His suggestion was to add the following line to the notes.ini and restart the server
DEBUG_FIXUP_DELETE_ERRORS_INCLUDE=107
We also needed to be at 8.5.1 FP4 HF30, which we were.  Once the server was restarted, the databases were fixable.
So once again, Lotus Support saves the day!  Now maybe we can concentrate on other things....like the upgrade :-)

You are telling us that IBM/Lotus tech support does not have a KB that all the techs can access and/or update? Tech 1 should have been able to find that error in the KB unless tech 2 never entered it and the answer. Scary thought for the future

Well, I could see how that may come out by this blog entry. But that wasn't the point. I was just glad to get this fixed and grateful
