One of the things that I had missed with the Standard Notes 8 client in my email was "The Gutter". You know, that small area just to the left of your messages that allowed you to check multiple messages at one time and then either file them or delete them. The delete part is especially nice if you get a lot of system messages. Anyways, I worked around it and moved in with my life, yet, there was an emptiness in my soul. Sure, I would visit it again every now and again if I used the Basic client, but it just wasn't the same. Sigh.
But that all changed yesterday with the release of 8.0.2. (Insert trumpets here) It's back! And where do you go to turn it on you might ask? Easy.
- In the Standard client, click File and then Preferences.
- In the Preferences window, select Basic Notes Client Configurations and under the Additional Options window, scroll all the way to the bottom.
- Click next to "Show check marks in margin for selected documents"
- Click OK
- Shazam! You got your gutter back!
I can rest easy tonight. I feel complete.

Yes the Gutter is back, promised in 8.0.1 but finally returned to us, but not quite intact.
You see I want one more little piece which was dropped too.
On R7 if you clicked in the upper most left corner of the gutter you could Refresh(F9) the inbox or screen.
But it's nice to have it back just the same and all my clients are happy again.
Thanks for the heads up. I was just looking for this. I though we were going to have to tell users to wait for 8.5!
