Tuesday

Tuesday marks the 6th anniversary of September 11th.
Six years since that morning that is burned into our minds forever. Six years that has changed how we live and go about our lives each day. Do you remember it as clearly as I do, as if it were yesterday? For some reason, that is the only morning I can ever remember all the details about the drive to work. It was such a clear, cool, beautiful morning. I remember sitting there at my desk working on stuff when I heard the news and thought of my brother who lives in NYC. Was he okay? And then that night as I sat outside smoking a cig and looking into the empty sky. Nothing up there was moving. No traffic in and out of Pittsburgh International. No traffic in and out of Akron/Canton. Just stars and nothing else.
Over the next couple of days, take a few minutes and remember. Remember those souls on the planes. Remember the bravery of the ones that fought back. Remember the souls that were in the towers starting their Tuesday morning like the rest of us. Remember the souls in the Pentagon that were sitting in their offices unaware of what was to happen. Remember the souls of the rescuers. The police and fireman that raced into harms way to try to save a life and in the end were lost themselves. Remember the image of the falling man. What horrors forced him to jump and yet at the same time look oddly at peace as he fell.
Remember the families of all of those listed.
It's rare that I take on something that is even remotely linked to a political issue on my blog. I like to keep it to either taking about Lotus Notes/Domino or the adventures of me and my life with my family and the goofy adventures we have. But because of what happened on that Tuesday morning has started a chain of events that has yet to play itself out completely and may likely still not be resolved until I am old and gone myself. For better or worse, our country is at war and the enemy is sitting there laughing at us as we still try to pick up the pieces and make things like how they were on September 10, 2001. If will never be that way again. I look at my children, my niece's toddler, my God-daughter and her little brother and my friends newborn and hope that the world they inherit from us will somehow be a better place. Maybe one day people will stop killing in the name of their higher power and start honoring it by more closely following the teaching of love one another and do unto others as you would have them do on to you.

I can dream that at least.
God bless you. God bless us all.

Good post Andy. The ironical thing I've seen with OBL's latest video transcript is that he's talking about our war against him in Iraq. I didn't think we were fighting the same people that attacked us?

This will indeed be a long war. We just fully left Germany a couple of years ago after WWII...
