Fun with the R6 upgrade.
Today is a big day. I get to sell my Lotus Notes R6 rollout to the server team. My original plan was to use a third party app to push the client upgrade out to people by clicking on a link in an email. That would be great, except, because of how our security is set up on the desktops, we can’t. So, I am going to lobby the desktop and server group to help me out and use MS SMS to push the silent install out and run it with the proper security set so the single logon feature works. Single sign on is a big thing right now since I am also rolling out iNotes. I’m still coming across one issue. It seems that on some, not all, of the people that I have tested the upgrade with, the bookmark.nsf gets set read-only. Pretty weird. Maybe there is something in the SMS that we can get it to set it without it. If I can get them to push this out for me, I will be sitting pretty. That’s it for now. Off to prepare for the meeting.
