Michael Savage is a piece of shit!

Normally I am not this blunt on my blog about things. But this guy has got me really on the chip today. Like others in the entertainment industry who believe that they are so called "experts" on everything from politics to how you should live your life, this jackass came out on his radio show and said this about people diagnosed Autism:
“a fraud, a racket … In 99 percent of the cases, it’s a brat who hasn’t been told to cut the act out. … They don’t have a father around to tell them, ‘Don’t act like a moron. … Act like a man. Don’t sit there crying and screaming, idiot.’ ”
Wow, I didn't know he had gotten so far in his studies of Autism. We should give this guy a freakin' medal. He went on to say:
"It is an overdiagnosed medical condition. In my readings, there is no definitive medical diagnosis for autism"
Well no shit. There is no definitive medical diagnosis for Autism. Try having a son who has it get treated, pal. Let me know what you think about it then. There may be no medical diagnosis because Autism isn't like a cold. When you have a cold, you know it. You sniffle, you cough, you sneeze and you feel shitty. Autism is such an incredibly wide spectrum of symptoms, there is no one way to label it. You need to get your head out of your sheltered ass and see what's really going on. Why not spend time in a children's hospital and talk with some of the parent of kids with severe cases. See what they think about your so called expert opinion pal.

Fuck off Savage. You're an ass.

And as the parent of a child with Asperger's syndrom, I'd like to nominate a companion to Mr. Savage's trip.

Jenny McCarthy needs to be both applauded (for the support and care she gives her child) and condoner (for her public and unsupported comments linking Autism with the use of vaccines). Lady, GET A CLUE!

you sound bitter Andy. However I think it is warranted here.

If he was fishing for higher ratings or to get some attention, he has succeeded.

However, if it wasn't for a certain satellite radio personality, I wouldn't have known 1) who he is, and 2) what he said.

And now he is trying to spin it as his comments were taken out of context. Um, no, I heard the entire thing, and you were way off base, pal.

I teach Tae Kwon Do. A lot of parents bring in their kids that have been diagnosed by "psychiatrists" with ADHD and "mild" autism and other disorders. The kids that get better in our class and get off their medications I belive are misdiagnosed and yes, just need some discipline, guidance and just told NO...

"Usually" these kids have wimply parents and psychs too busy with their jobs and life to spend the time and nuturing a child needs growing up during some formidable years.

Ahh, what an expert Mr. Savage must be. I'd like to invite him and Anonymous Tae Kwon Do teacher to come spend a day with me and my 35 year old brother in law.
Please let me know when you are available so you can show me how to just tell him "NO" and discipline him.

And if you think for one minute that everything and anything possible wasn't done when he was in his "formidable years", you are way, way off.

Wow...unbelievable. Yep...having a autistic child is very challenging. I wish it was as easy to "fix" as being a hard ass or having tons of money to throw at it. Certainly there are probably cases in which it is misdiagnosed, but autism is a very real condition and we need to educate people more about it.

As for the ADHD there is a big difference between that and Autism. My nephew has ADHD and there is a big difference when he isn't and is on his meds. Not just being calm but a better thinker and a lot less of a "bad" risk taker. I think all kids are different and can't be boxed into one diagnosis. Something might work for one but not another. I have heard of diet being a good controller. There are some out there that truly need meds and I am sure there are some that don't need them. It is up to the parents working with doctors to decide what is in the best interest of their children.

It is easy to take things out of context. Did you listen to the whole show or did you hear a quote from another news source?
