No, Yo Joe!

Okay, I'm a little ticked off right now.
After having lunch, I decided to take a look at a few geeks sites to see what is new in geek-dom. To my surprise, I was happy to see a note that Paramount Studios is going to produce a GI Joe movie! Sweet! Junior and Senior year of high school, (as well as a few years ago), I was all about collecting and reading those comic books. They were awesome! The whole Snake Eyes/Storm Shadow storyline kept me coming back for more. Back then, GI Joe was known as "G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero". But now, the over-thinkers in Hollywood feel that because of the current state of affairs with the United States involvement with Iraq and Afghanistan, that GI Joe should stand for "G.I.J.O.E. -- Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity". Huh! GI Joe is an American icon brand. It represents something about the American spirit and the American fighting man and women. Now, we have to globalize it in the name of political correctness? Come on! Just make a movie about the Joe's kicking Cobra's butt and leave a nice cliff-hanger on the end for sequels. Isn't that pretty much how the Transformers movie played out? Okay, so Megatron didn't transform into a gun like he did in the comics, but it still worked out.
Harrumph!

They did the same thing with Superman Returns. He now stands for "truth, justice, and all that stuff" instead of the American way....

Pretty lame!
