Great post!
If your like me, you've come back from Lotusphere all energized and on fire about the new product offerings. Okay, if you didn't go, I'm sure if your reading this you've likely read here and elsewhere about the cool new stuff. But then you stop and think to yourself, "How can I get the message across here at the office?" First thing you may want to tell management, (not asking, TELLING them), that the Lotusphere Comes To You events are starting to pop up around North America. But for many others you may be in my situation. I'm the only Domino Admin. Most people in IS don't know much about Lotus Notes other than it's our email program and it's always causing problems. Well, they like to blame Lotus for their problems when it is most always either network or user error. But it leaves it to me to try to be the big cheerleader in the company. "Hey, check out what Lotus can do now!" Sure, they might look for a minute, but then there is usually a Microsoft launch event up in Cleveland and boy, that Share Point thing really integrates into Office and Exchange, and wow we could really go that route. ARGH! You guessed it, the Us VS Them game again. Lotus seems to really talk a good game about fighting it. They are doing that for the BIG companies but what about us smaller one? Last night, I read this excellent post on the Leadership By Numbers blog called "What Can IBM Do?" Now I know I am not alone out here! IBM, please hit the SMB market and hit it hard! Don't leave us hanging. The MS marketing wolves are always at the door.
