What a week!

This past week has been an interesting one around where I live. I live on the north end of Tuscarawas County in Ohio. It's about 15 minutes south of Canton. Since Christmas, this area has been nailed with rain, freezing rain, and snow. All the heavy amounts of moisture has lead to really heavy flooding in the area. Last week, the Tuscarawas River rose so high, it covered one of the access roads out of the area. It was kinda cool at first. It was almost like a tourist attraction around here. People were parking their cars off the road and walking under the interstate bridge to see the water covering the road. The TV stations from Cleveland came down, and our area made it on the news. But, the water kept rising...and rising. Now, three small communities are cut off from the outside world! Thursday afternoon, the announcement went across the radio that if you lived in one of the areas, and were not out by 9:30 that night, your probably going to be there until next week. A lot of people dug in. The local Giant Eagle was swamped with people trying to stock up. Luckily, they were able to get a truck to them with supplies before the road flooded over. But, they are cut off. Check out this photo gallery.
The kids haven't had school at all this past week, and the way it looks, they won't have it again next week. So much for their Spring Break. I went looking at the flooding that's down the road from my house yesterday, and it has risen by about 4 feet since the night before. They are hoping that the water will stop rising, and start going down today, but, I am not putting any money on that. Especially since it's snowing outside right now.
Pretty weird.
