The servers are done.
Well, I spent the last two days of the week at our Memphis plant and replaced their 5.0.6a server with a new 6.5 server. Only took two hours. Coming up with those .bat files has REALLY paid off. I wish I would have thought about that last year when I did the main mail server. I think I mentioned it before, but, when upgrading from a 5.x server to a 6.5 server, you have to run the nfixup, nupdall, and a few other things against the mail files. If you do it one at a time, it takes forever. If you do a dir > dirlist.txt of the \mail directory before starting, import it into Excel, cut the list in half and make a couple of .bat files with all the commands. That way, it takes half the time, and runs much better. If you have a lot of users, make more .bat files, cut the list down even more. Give it a try! Now that my servers are done, it's on to fine tuning the silent install so I can start pushing out the clients to the users. But for now, I am on autopilot for the rest of the year. Only have this next week of work, then I am off for the last two weeks!!!! Then, work a couple of more weeks, and then off to Lotusphere 2005! Turtle has posted that he already knows where the closing night party is, but, he is keeping quiet about it. I guess we will have to wait and see. I am more curious who the opening speaker is. Since I am staying at the Dolphin this year, I am thinking about brining the camcorder in case it's someone really cool, like the last two years. Guess we will have to wait and see. If I don't blog between now and then, have a safe and wonderful Christmas, and an awesome New Year!
